And they're doing it with confidence, character, and a vision for the future.

Today’s students.
Tomorrow’s leaders.

Since the Midtown Center for boys and the Metro Achievement Center for girls opened their doors in 1965 and 1985, respectively, nearly 22,000 students have experienced the “Midtown Way” and benefited in innumerable ways from more than 14.5 million hours of academic tutoring and virtue development.

Mentorship, Academic Enrichment, and Character Formation in Action

Our Mission

Midtown-Metro Achievement Centers guide low-income urban youth in Chicago along pathways of success. Our proven enrichment programs embrace the dignity of the person by focusing on academic excellence, virtue development, individual attention, and parental involvement. Programs embrace students regardless of their religious, racial, ethnic or familial status. The programs are guided by Catholic moral and social teaching as well as Midtown-Metro’s Statement of Values, whose provisions include diligence in work and study, joy and optimism in life based on an awareness of one’s being loved by God, and a firm conviction of the importance of the family. The Christian orientation of the program centers is entrusted to the Catholic institution of Opus Dei.
