MIDTOWN-METRO ACHIEVEMENT CENTERS
Program Policies for Students & Families
A simple summary of expectations, safety practices, and family responsibilities at Midtown-Metro Achievement Centers.
At Midtown-Metro Achievement Centers (MMAC), we want every student to be safe, supported, and ready to grow. Our programs work best when students, families, staff, and volunteers all understand the same expectations.
This page provides families with a brief summary of our main program policies. During the application and enrollment process, parents and guardians will be asked to review and sign the full Terms, Conditions and Policy Agreement, including the Medical Authorization Form.
PARENT PARTNERSHIP
MMAC believes parents and guardians are the first and most important educators of their children. We ask families to work with us by:
Keeping contact information up to date
Communicating with staff about attendance, safety, or important concerns
Supporting program rules and expectations
Attending parent meetings, workshops, or events when required by the program
ACADEMIC SUPPORT
MMAC may ask to review school information such as report cards, progress reports, or other academic updates. This helps our staff better support each student’s growth.
ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance helps students get the most out of MMAC. Students are expected to arrive on time, participate fully, and follow program check-in and dismissal procedures.
Families should notify MMAC about absences whenever possible. Repeated absences, lateness, or attendance problems may affect a student’s ability to continue in the program.
TRANSPORTATION AND DISMISSAL
Dismissal rules may be different depending on a student’s age, grade, and program.
Some students may be allowed to leave on their own, including by public transportation, if approved by the program and the parent or guardian. Other students must be picked up by a parent, guardian, or approved adult.
Any special pickup or dismissal arrangement must be shared with MMAC in writing and approved by staff.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR
Students are expected to treat others with respect and follow the directions of MMAC staff, teachers, volunteers, and program leaders.
Behavior that may lead to consequences, suspension, or dismissal includes:
Fighting, violence, or threats
Weapons of any kind
Alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, or other prohibited substances
Bullying, harassment, or intimidation
Theft, vandalism, or damage to property
Ongoing disrespect or refusal to follow staff direction
Any behavior that puts another person’s safety or dignity at risk
MMAC will decide the appropriate response based on the situation.
SAFE AND RESPECTFUL ENVIRONMENT
MMAC is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all students, families, staff, and volunteers. Bullying, harassment, inappropriate touching, sexual comments or behavior, intimidation, or other harmful conduct is not allowed.
PHONES, TECHNOLOGY, AND PERSONAL ITEMS
Students should keep phones and other electronic devices turned off, silenced, and put away during program activities unless staff gives permission.
MMAC computers, internet access, and other technology are for school, learning, and program use only.
Students should not bring valuable or unnecessary personal items to the program. MMAC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings.
DRESS CODE
Students should dress in a way that is appropriate for a learning environment and for the activities scheduled that day, including sports, recreation, or field trips.
Each Center or program may share more specific dress code expectations during interviews, orientation, or program sessions.
FIELD TRIPS AND OFF-SITE ACTIVITIES
Students may take part in field trips, college visits, service activities, recreational outings, and other off-site program events.
Students are expected to follow all MMAC rules and staff instructions during these activities.
SPORTS, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, AND CONCUSSION SAFETY
MMAC programs may include sports, recreation, outdoor play, gym activities, fitness activities, and other physical activities.
These activities include some risk of injury, such as falls, collisions, sprains, strains, broken bones, or head injuries including concussions.
Families should inform MMAC of any medical conditions, allergies, medications, injuries, or physical limitations that may affect a student’s ability to participate safely.
If staff think a student may have a concussion or head injury, the student will be removed from physical activity, and the parent or guardian will be contacted. The student may need a doctor’s note or approval before returning to sports or physical activity.
PHOTOS, VIDEOS, AND MEDIA
MMAC often takes photos and videos during program activities to celebrate students, share our mission, and communicate with families, supporters, and the community.
Families who do not want their child included in photos, videos, or recordings may notify MMAC in writing at any time. MMAC will make reasonable efforts to honor this request. Because our programs include group activities and events, we cannot always guarantee that a student will never appear in the background of a group photo or video.
STAFF AND VOLUNTEER INTERACTIONS
MMAC staff and volunteers work with students during official program activities. Any contact between a student and a staff member or volunteer outside of official MMAC programs is at the parent's or guardian's discretion unless MMAC has specifically arranged or approved it in writing.
MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION AND EMERGENCIES
During enrollment, parents and guardians will complete a Medical Authorization Form.
This allows MMAC to seek emergency medical care, arrange emergency transportation, or contact emergency services if a student becomes sick or injured and immediate care is needed.
Families are responsible for keeping medical, allergy, medication, health insurance, and emergency contact information up to date.
FULL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This page is only a summary of MMAC’s student and family policies.
All families must review and sign the full Terms, Conditions and Policy Agreement, including the Medical Authorization Form, as part of the application and enrollment process.
Families may request a copy of the full agreement at any time.
