VOLUNTEERS OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE CHICAGO YOUTH
Fall tutoring for Chicago kids starts the week of September 26. Metro for girls will need 250 volunteer tutors & mentors; Midtown for boys, 130. We are fortunate to have many, many generous people returning as volunteers (if you are a current volunteer: Thank you!!) but we will need at least 160 NEW volunteers!! If you or someone you know is interested in volunteer opportunities in Chicago, check out the below links. Volunteers work with the same student(s) each week as a coach & role model, build character through weekly goal setting and support MEF parents. In just two hours, once a week, you can make a difference in the life of a child! If you are able to host a "lunch 'n learn" session at your company to share more about volunteer opportunities, please contact Chelsea Gibson to coordinate!

Upcoming Fundraising & Volunteer Recruitment Events
The 2016 MEF Benefit Dinner will honor Dr. & Mrs. Don Haider and Tonise Paul. Professor Haider is the Director of the Center for Non-Profit Management at the Kellogg School of Northwestern University. Tonise Paul is the President & CEO of Energy BBDO.
After an afternoon with 7 attorneys from Discover Financial Services and 2 partners from Burr & Forman, the Midtown Law Apprentice students have a deep appreciation for the law and the grit, determination and preparation it takes to argue cases in front of the bench.
Midtown & Metro Business Apprenticeship students spent a day at Potbelly's Support Center learning about the company's culture and values—many of which align strongly with MEF's Character Education model! CEO Aylwin Lewis also presented a check to six student CEOs for Potbelly's contribution to MEF programs from the 6-week long milkshake fundraiser.
