Our volunteer coordinator will contact you to set up a visit to our Chicago centers in Bucktown (men) or Greektown (women).
Receive a brief tour of the center and learn more during the volunteer info session.
Volunteer! No previous experience necessary. Tutor training provided.
Just 2 hours, once a week
Your help can provide a student with the individual attention they need to find both personal and academic success.
Tutor the same student each week for at least one full academic semester. You help the student develop study skills, prepare for upcoming tests, and finish homework.
Set goals with your student to help them grow personally and academically.
Call the parents weekly to make sure the student is both doing their weekly goals and finishing homework. A key component of our tutoring program is the relationship between our tutors and our parents.
Programs run from September to the end of April. We ask for an 85% attendance commitment. Program staff provide ongoing volunteer training and resources. Volunteers come the same night every week; choose your night in the application. Options include:
Metro for girls
Mondays (4th-6th graders) 6-8pm
Wednesdays (4th-6th graders) 6-8pm
Tuesdays or Thursdays (7th-12th graders) 6-8pm. Strength in math & science preferred.
