Fathers and Daughters Bond at Metro for girls
The Scene
Our Father-Daughter Day at Metro for girls was a GREAT success!!!
The theme was black and white; each table was decorated with a single white rose and splashed with sparkling star confetti. The food was fantastic, herbed chicken, jasmine rice, sesame rolls, sauteed veggies, roasted potatoes, and assorted cookies for dessert. The music was lovely with a soft father-daughter theme selection of songs.
The Speakers
Tom Aldrich, father of five girls, spoke to the Metro fathers in attendance. He talked about a father's importance to his daughter's self-esteem and how his role is key in helping to build their daughter's foundation so she can reach her goals and become a strong, well-rounded, successful adult. Lucia Pardilla (formerly Lucia Palos--One-on-One Program Director) discussed with the girls about how and why they should show appreciation for their fathers.
The Impact
The Father-Daughter Day tradition at Metro is exchanging a 'love letter' with one another. By expressing their affection in writing, they create a memory that will not be forgotten. We have seen amazing moments, from long-lost fathers appearing on this special day, to fathers of current students 'adopting' a girl so she can attend the event. Father-Daughter Day is open to all Metro girls who would like to attend by bringing their father, male-guardian, or role model.
"Thank you, your staff, the father of five young ladies [guest speaker], and for the attention to detail. The theme was presented in a contemporary setting and the audience was captivated. The tables sparkled, as did the food. Metro provided us with a pleasant family experience." -Father of Maria and Gloria Escobedo
