Program Details:

The Metro Achievement Program is for 7th & 8th grade girls with average (B-C) range grades, who are academically motivated, but are looking for the supplemental structure and support that will help them achieve.

Professional and college women from all over the country dedicate time to serve as role models and mentors for the girls.  They provide the additional academic support the students need and help them to set goals to improve in school and to grow in the virtues they are learning in the character development classes.

In addition to the tutoring, the girls take part in character education classes that cover virtues such as generosity, leadership, modesty, respect and honesty.  Various academic class offerings provide the girls with opportunities to brush up on fundamental academic skills.  An additional semester of high school prep provides an introduction to the high school admissions procedures as well as test preparation.

School Year Schedule

Program includes character development, an academically enriching course and individual mentoring. Students also prepare for the ISAT and TerraNova tests, which are very important for getting into high school.  The girls and their parents will also receive coaching on how to apply for high school, including scholarship opportunities and how to seek financial aid.  There are also opportunities for the students to attend field trips scheduled throughout the semester, including activities such as ice skating and trips to museums in the Chicago area.
